From It's Logic, we are convinced that trade must lead us to welfare in our communities, but this is not always the case. As consumers, we continuously receive products from all over the world, and this is not bad in itself, but it is our duty to inform ourselves of what is behind the production process of each of them. Why? There have been many cases of scandals that have to do with children working in factories, betting their lives and exposing themselves to perfectly preventable work accidents. Or without going any further, ridiculous economic conditions that make workers in developing countries not earn a living wage that allows them to improve their living conditions.
Why do we incorporate Amfori BSCI into our production line?
Amfori BSCI is an initiative that brings together hundreds of companies around a common code of conduct with the objective of gradually improving working conditions throughout the supply chain.
In this way, from It's Logic we assume the commitment to manufacture our bottle in a responsible way thanks to the control and audit of the factory based on one common code of conduct with other member companies, with the final objective of improving the working conditions of the integrated people in our value chain.
According to this objective, these are the aspects that Amfori BSCI measures and strives to maintain and improve:
- The rights of freedom of association and collective bargaining.
- Non-discrimination based on gender, religion, race, etc.
- Fair compensation to guarantee a life worthy of the worker.
- Decent workday where, in the case of overtime, these will be rewarded with a higher rate.
- Occupational safety and health guarantee risk detection and prevention systems.
- No to child labor.
- Special protection for workers of training age.
- No to precarious work both in salary and in conditions.
- No to forced labor.
- Protection of the environment through proper management of waste generated during manufacturing.
- Ethical commercial behavior.
Our factory undertakes to undergo a review by Amfori in semiannual periods to improve each day-to-day processing and be properly evaluated.
As you can see, all these certain variables are impossible to control by us, since we are established in Spain and the cost of traveling so frequently would be unsustainable. These measures give us peace of mind to work with our factory in Shenzhen (China).
Contrary to what you might think, our manufacturing cost is higher than that of the competitors, and it has a lot to do with what I just told you. We could manufacture cheaper, but we could not have all these working conditions. We could also sell a little cheaper, but we could not finance the good actions and initiatives for the environment that we are now carrying out.
You know, if there is no margin there is no mission.
