Brands we logically like: Wolfkind, luxury sustainable dog ware

As a responsible brand, we know that we are a part of a market that has much to improve. That's why we love to meet other brands and ideas that want to leave the world better than they found it.

Led by Rebecca, one of our community members, Wolfkind is a brand that has brought its commitment to sustainability to the pets as well.

Hi, Rebecca! Tell us more about your brand.

Wolfkind is a new luxury sustainable dog ware brand. We handcraft our products in Northern Ireland. We provide a sustainable alternative for dog lovers who do not want to buy animal leather or plastic products for their pups. At Wolfkind we value being kind to the earth, people, and animals.

How did Wolfkind come about?

For the last 7 years, I have felt a calling in my spirit to do something to make a difference and to be part of the resistance to do business in a better way for the sake of our planet and its people. I felt so passionate to learn more about this I completed my Masters in Sustainable Development in 2018. I spent a lot of time researching the horrific impact plastic has on our earth and the pollution of the fast fashion industry.

Wolfkind was birthed out of a passion for sustainable design and a love for dogs in May 2020. I decided to combine all these passions after the arrival of our puppy Merlot 'the model’, and I started designing dog collars made from sustainable materials with my husband Stephen.

What are your main products?

Currently, we have two products: Our luxury vegan dog collar - made from navy Piñatex® an ethical, sustainable, vegan alternative to animal skins made from pineapple leaf fiber. Our collar is sewn with organic cotton thread and finished using brass hardware. And our luxury Irish linen bow-tie - made from 100% Irish grown linen. The linen we use has been crafted from some of the last flax grown in Ireland, preserved for a generation. This linen was cultivated by hand and woven on vintage looms. It was produced using ethical and sustainable traditional practices using no chemicals. The bow-tie is also sewn using organic cotton thread with an organic cotton/rubber eco-elastic loop on the back to easily attach to any collar.

Also, at Wolfkind even the packaging we use is sustainably sourced. The boxes we use are made from 77% recycled material and are fully recyclable.

What would you say to someone to #ActNow for the planet?

I would quote Anne Marie Bonneau (@ZeroWasteChef): “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”

Don’t get so overwhelmed you do nothing, start somewhere, start today. Take a moment and become curious. Begin to ask yourself about the products you buy and choose the option that is kinder to the earth and its people.
