How to be sustainable without die in the process

How to be sustainable without die in the process

Luckily, more and more people, companies and organizations are hoping on the sustainability badwagon, either because it has become fashionable or because they really believe in it.

With all the information that exists on social media, sometimes it’s not easy to change consumption habits and distinguish what is really sustainable and beneficial for the planet and what it’s not. Therefore, to all those people who want to take the step towards to an eco-friendlier life we want to tell you some things that may help you with this process.

  • INFORMATION

Knowledge is power. The more informed we are on the subject, the less difficult it will be for us to identify which products or actions are sustainable and which are just green washing. This way till be easier for us to change our habits towards more sustainable ones.

    • Documentaries
One of the best ways to get information without having to make a great effort is to watch documentaries. Nowadays there are many documentaries that tell us about environmental problems, as well as possible solutions. Take a look at our post "10+1 environmental documentaries to start acting now".
    • Social media

Following official and verified accounts of organizations and individuals who speak on the subject is also a very good option to be informed. It is important not to fall into the demagogy of some accounts and always contrast information.

  • BE CRITICAL

The next step to a more sustainable life is to take all this information and draw conclusions, form your own opinion and be critical.

From now on you start implementing small actions in your daily life that are in line with your values and respect for the environment. Some of the questions you should ask yourself are about the products you want to buy from now on and the brands you are going to support.

Thanks to having your own criteria you will also know when to believe the news, a brand or a story and when it will be time to dig a little deeper and look for information about it.

  • TIME

It is not necessary to change everything at once. It is important to be aware of the problem and try to modify our habits little by little. We don’t have all the time in the world to reverse the problem but it’s much better lot of people doing small thing than few people doing everything perfectly.

A good trick is to think about what you do in your daily life and if that is going to lead you to be more sustainable people. If the answer is no, try to turn that aspect of your life around, find out a little more and see what you can do to change it.

  • ASK FOR HELP

Nowadays there is a lot of information and a lot of people very well prepared and informed about how to live on this planet in a more respectful way and how to fight climate change.

If there is a specific issue that it’s a real headache and you don't know how to approach it, for example: which sustainable alternative is the most suitable for you, or if a brand is really sustainable, etc., you can ask people for help and advice.

There is a very large community out there willing to help each other and together it is much easier to reach our goal. Could be possible that someone else in the same situation as you has found the solution and can help you.

  • TO SHARE

Sharing is living.

In the same way that you have been helped by all the information that exists on the internet (like this post), maybe other people in the same situation as you also need help. And not only help from an organization that explains the environmental problems, but help from another person with the same concerns and problems.

By sharing on social media or with family and friends, you are helping not only other individuals to step up or solve their daily life sustainability problems, but you are helping yourself by showing that you can get involved and make this planet a better place.

I hope you liked this post and that it has helped you on your path to sustainability and if you think you can help someone with it, I encourage you to share it!
